I have a small plum tree my neighbor tells me will just produce a small peach.
This is/was a Santa Rosa Plum my husband got too close to with the Roundup (I think). It died back but immediately sent suckers up from the base. I allowed the suckers to grow and chose the best looking and trimmed all others off. It's now about as tall as it was when it died back and has buds but has not bloomed or leafed out yet.
My neighbor told me the other day that they use a 'not so good' peach for root stock on plum trees and that most likely what came out after it died back was the peach, not a Santa Rosa Plum.
Any advise? I have 3 trees that give me good peaches, don't need a tree that does not produce something good to eat taking up room in my garden.
