Spraying Surround and how to use other sprays?

I am planning on spraying surround this year on the fruit trees for bug control.

I also plan on spraying Bordeaux mixture on the same trees.

Surround label says not to mix and spray at the same time - I understand this.

So when do I spray so I don't wash off the Surround?

Spray the Bordeaux first, then Surround?

Same day? Same Week?

You can mix with surround, anything but stickers can be mixed in the same tank. In any case bordeaux is usually applied dormant or nearly so and surround is post petal fall so there is generally not any overlap.

I was thinking I was going to spray the Bordeaux mixture for Apple Scab and mildew?

But now I am reading that I should be using micronized sulfur for this. And this can be combined with Surround.

    Any thoughts on this?

That sounds good, dude. I will be including sulphur with my first Surround sprays after petal fall. Every Surround spray I do includes either sulphur, oil, or Serenade for diseases (the oil is also for aphids; Saf-T-Side oil is the best brand, it also helps smother diseases like brown rot). The sulphur and oil cannot be mixed, you need to wait a week or two between. If you are using a light mineral oil such as Saf-T-Side it will evaporate completely in two days so sulphur can follow oil pretty fast, just not the other way around. Oil is not recommended with Surround but I find the way it evaporates quickly means it does not interfere with the Surround sticking to the bugs.

Make sure to get a major coat of Surround down in the beginning. I do two sprays in a row for the first spray, with 3 cups of powder per gallon, to get a very thick coat down. If you do two coats in a row you can include a sticker in the first coat. Then refresh whenever its looking thin. With Surround you always need to be looking at the weather to see when to refresh, if it looks like more than 1/4" of rain is coming you may as well wait til after the rain. Sometimes that means suffering a bit more curc damage in the interim. Surround is definitely a challenge to use, you can't just follow some spray program template.

Do you have a source for buying the Surround?
I asked my local store and they cannot order it for me.

Lets see... Johnnys seeds, Agriculturesolutions.com, 7springsfarm.com, Planet Natural, Peaceful Valley, etc. I always get mine from Seven Springs, they have the cheapest price and are good folks to deal with. You need to call in orders, its a small operation run primarily by one guy. They are in Virginia. Make sure to check shipping along with price, the bags are 25lbs so shipping is high.

I'm having a lot of trouble with my solo backpack sprayer clogging up when I spray surround. Any suggestions? I have the adjustable brass nozzle. Is there another nozzle that people use with surround?
