Pruning new Peach Tree

Hi,

I just planted a young 5 gallon peach tree (container tree) amongst other fruit trees and I have begun reading about pruning and training fruit trees.

This peach tree is about 4 weeks old and only two scaffolds are growing out. The problem is that they are right above each other and are over ten inches long with a lot of foliage. There are no other signs of any other scaffold growth anywhere else on the tree. There may have been, but these have been cut back to the trunk.

Should I cut these back or should I leave the tree alone and just wait for more scaffolds to develop. The tree looks a bit lopsided.

In general, how much pruning should I be doing, besides heading the new fruit trees (not just peaches, but also apples) and thinning side branches that are to close to the desired scaffolds?

Thanks.
