I grew a Haralson and didn't like it, it had large apples and the wind
blew them down before ripe,.. for a couple of season's, one spring she was dead due to winter kill or spring frost...didn't miss this one.

Thanks for answering my question. I saw in a earlier post your pics of Sept. Ruby and Norkent apple trees. Beautiful trees, but I cant seem to find a nursery to order them in the U.S. I have a 90 day growing season (if I'm lucky) so I need a late blooming apple tree. Can get a early frost but its not to long and then warms back up again for a bit. I have 3 old apple trees from past owners but they are in really bad shape. Apple trees do grow in my area. I do have a source for the Haralred and Haralson apple trees. What do you think of growing Haralred apple and the Trailman crabapple (you mentioned this tree)? I'm growing for home use only. Thanks!!!

I still would try them in your climate, sheltered spot....if you have space?
Trailman is a very juicy little apple, it's super hardy but because it's the
earliest pushing leaves in spring and I have lost some due to late spring frost in a
low spot, on higher ground it does allot better. I'm surprised nobody has
Norkent, this one is still on top of my list, a later apple but still ripens when
frost comes,.. best eating!
Second best is Sept. Ruby, eating is fine but I juice most of it with Trailman.

For a start I would try a very hardy and best early eating or pie apple, it's Norland, the first time
I was trying this one, it reminded me a little of another early apple, Grafenstein in
Switzerland where I grew up, this one is not hardy here in zone 3.

I planted a harolson tree 3 years ago and it's a standard size it hasn't grown to much yet it had started a few apples last year that fell off early I think because tree isn't mature enough yet but I think it will be a good tree .
