yellow squash questions

This is the first year I've grown yellow squash. Some of them are fusing together! Is this normal? Ones that have grown right next to each other have melded into conjoined twins! And they really have melded. I broke one apart, and it exposed the white innards :)

Second, I picked a couple because they were over 6 inches long. They looked yellow while under the plant, but they still have a greenish tinge. Can I still eat them?

And holy cow... if all those little squashlets turn into edible squash, I'm gonna be able to supply the neighborhood!!!

Thanks... how fun this is!
