Complete zucchini failure

I have an "Eight Ball" zucchini plant in my vegetable garden that seems pretty healthy, is coming along nicely in terms of leaves and all that and has lots of blooms. The problem is, they're all male... there are plenty of female buds but they never open. Instead they yellow, shrivel, and fall off before that stiff cone of immature petals even has the chance to get a blush of orange. It's really sad to watch so many potential zucchinis never even get the chance to be pollinated. What's going on here?
