I have a half-dozen American Persimmons that are about 18-inches tall and no more than a quarter-inch in diameter. I would like to graft some Japanese Persimmons varieties onto these whenever they are large enough. How large do these plants need to be to be used as rootstock? What time of year and which grating technique is best for persimmons? And is there a source where I can obtain pieces of different Japanese Persimmon varieties appropriate for zone 7b to use a scions to make these grafts (I have Fuyu)?
