mosaic and tufa water feature

I have been lurking on this forum for a while, and have tried a few simple tufa projects with good success. I still consider myself a newbie, however. My latest "obsession" is to create some sort of water feature for my garden, and I want to use mosaic. I think I am going to create a sphere with a copper tube running up the center out of an old basketball, and I will also make a large saucer for the sphere to sit in. Both the sphere and the inside surface of the saucer will be covered in mosaic. I have already purchased the glass nuggets, tiles, mirrors, and other objects that I will use in the mosaic and am so excited to get started! My question is this: how long do I have to let the tufa cure before I can begin the mosaic process, and do I have to do something to seal the objects? If I have to use sealer, do I do it before I apply the mosaic, or after, or both? Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Carol
