I have pole but similar experience. I only have about 15 sq ft, so something like150 vines. I have yet to get even one meals worth. The vines are putting out their second flush of flowers but nothingbis setting and what is is growing very slowly. Last year i was picking a bowl full almost daily from the same space.

I imagine it's probably due to the excessive heat and humidity, depending on where you are... That's the case here in NJ, lots of blossom drop on almost everything this year. I'm hoping the season will at least be extended to make up for it, but we'll see.

I grew blue lake runners this year. I normally plant bush. I had so many green beans on my 50' row that I finally quit picking them.

I canned around 60 quarts or more. I gave so many beans to my coworkers that they finally wouldn't take any more.

I went gangbusters when planting beans this year.

We've had about three handfuls and the plants are not doing well at all. The beans we've had have been small and stunted.

Not a good year for beans. Should have stuck with my original plan to plant scads of carrots- those are doing great.

Yes, ME!! The Blue Lake beans are doing nothing! I am also in Illinois -- western Chicago burbs.

My provider bush beans are doing a little better....

Makes me feel better not to be alone.

I'm so glad to hear I'm not alone. I have grown bush beans for years, and always tell new gardeners that beans are just about foolproof. Then this!

Here in D1 drought and the hottest July on record, my Jade bush beans are going to town, first planting in the 2nd flush, 2nd planting just getting started.

I only plant for immediate household consumption, but I've been taking them to the food pantry cause we can't keep up.

Yay! Maybe all it took was temperatures dipping in to the 80s, but I've gotten a good amount of beans this week. Two pickings of about 100 beans each time.
