Gosh, you guys thanks. I thought she ended up with a personality for sure. I look at her from behind and think with her big butt she should be called Bertha. However I think she would prefer to be called Fanny. lol. Tango I liked your comment about settling her bottom into cold water. Perhaps I will create a small mosaic pool for her to sit in , like a kiddie pool with blue mosaics.
Laura, just go for it, and play with carving, it is kind of addictive.

hi Dian, my carveable mix is 1 part portland, 1part fine vermiculite and 2 parts masonary sand. No admix or anything special. The bench was done using a terra cotta colorant in the mix. In the mold I sprinkled some powdered pigments before I poured the mix.Left a mottled color, glad you like it.

Cindy, Your lady is just fabulous! Her expression is priceless! Thanks for posting your carvable mix..gonna have to try that sometime soon. One question...is the fine vermiculite different from regular stuff that you get at the garden centre or do you sift the regular?? If it is different than the regular stuff do you mind me asking where it can be found? If nothing else I am accumulating supplies to try out some new techniques. Thanks

She is wonderful. Next June lets enter the chainsaw carving in campbell river. Wood might be a little different to carve, but we'd have lots of fun anyway.

Just got back from a week on the west coast. Hi Laurie, the vermiculite I use is called zonolite, it is quite fine and makes for a less chunky mix. I buy it from a masonary supply place.
Debbie, I don't even own a chainsaw, guess I could remedy that though. I really like chainsaw carvings, and find sand sculptures very inspirational also.
Billie, my hair is much longer than the sculptures, so it isn't a real self portrait lol.
