Codling Moth ID

Two years ago I had some moderate loss due to CM, so last year I did some pretty intensive spraying around my best guess of when the first and second generations would emerge. (About ten days after petal fall and starting again around Independence Day.) Apparently, it worked. I had zero CM damage last year. Nada.

So, says I, let's fine-tune this a little, get scientific about it and really do it right. I bought some CM traps and downloaded degree day charts and was all set to do some targeted spraying and hopefully get by with equally good results and less hassle

Here's the problem. What I'm trapping is little gray moths all right, but they don't seem like CM. They have none of the wavy lines across the mid-wings and none has (what I believe to be) the telltale copper brown border on the outside of the forewing. The size seems about right. 7mm or so. But now I'm worried.

Which leads me to the following conclusions: 1.) What I'm trapping are NOT CM. 2.) There are variations in CM and not all of them have the copper trim.

I'm good with the former. If it's the latter, I probably should forget degree days and just start spraying *stat*, since I haven't been keeping track.

Anyone a CM ID expert?

Thanks a bunch.
