safe, non-toxic admixtures?

I have been thinking about using an acrylic or other type (there seem to be many commerically available) as a strengethening admix. However, since I would like to use some of resultant pots for herbs, I am concerned about possible leachate from the admix.

With what little I have learned about possible health concerns about certain plastics (polycarbonates, polyvinyl chlorides, polystyrenes, and plasticizers (phthalates), I am wondering if anyone knows anything about safe and non-toxic admixtures?

As far as anything I've heard, the admixes are stable in the cured cement and won't leach. If you are very concerned you can leave out the admix and just use nylon fibers.
