ID this fruit tree please

Hi there. I would have put more information in the title, but I have an idea what this tree is, and I'd like to hear your opinions without biasing you. I'm no expert in botany terms, so I can't give you more than a casual description of the tree (and some photos).

It's growing wild on a bit of a slope next to some train tracks near my house. Plenty of wild grapes in the area. It's rather shrubby, with several younger stems growing out of what appears to be the main trunk. It's about 10 feet high, (though I didn't really take note).

I've included photos showing the bark, which is the most prominent feature, I think. Trunk is maybe 4-5 inches diameter. It's still pretty early spring here, so not much in terms of foliage, though I will note that some other trees that I think are domestic relatives of this guy are in full bloom (not giving too much away with respect to my tentative ID, I hope).

Anyway, many thanks for your opinions. Hopefully in a couple of months, if the thing sets fruit, we'll have a definitive answer!
