action plan for apple canker

16 years ago

Hi,

I didn't really realize that I had canker on my apple trees until this week. I have 5 trees that are on dwarf rootstock. It looks like 3 of them might have canker below the graft:

{{gwi:115366}}
{{gwi:115367}}
{{gwi:115368}}

Two of the trees look to have canker on higher branches and spurs:

{{gwi:115369}}
{{gwi:115370}}

If these are all canker, I guess there is no point in cutting below the canker on the three trees, as that would be end of the trees. Should these bottom cankers just be sealed (or maybe the bottom ones are not even canker?)?

In the case that the bottom problems are cankers and will be sealed, is there any point in pruning off the higher cankers? They can be sealed too...

What are the issues of just living with apple canker? I'm not near any other orchids/trees. The trees themselves are quite productive.

thanks
