Hi j1andj2, have you found a solution yet? Have you maybe considered placing the TV elsewhere in the kitchen so you can hide it in a place where you can still maneuver it in different directions? What I had in mind was hiding it behind an appliance garage, similar to this:

TV in island - If the distance between the viewer and the screen is less than 8 or 10 feet, it will be a very uncomfortable viewing height. As Keerthi suggested, find another location, such as the top portion of a pantry cabinet and install it on a roll out or pivoting turn table. Hafele, Richelieu and other cabinet hardware manufacturers will have just the thing for you.
