Tired?

Anybody TOTALLY exhausted tonite? I worked outside all day and am SO tired...I can barely move! Getting old sure ain't for sissies! I raked up leaves under my bamboo, cleaned out some flower beds, spread some bark, shredded the leaves, chipped some branches, spread straw in my strawberry bed lifted and toted and just about KILLED myself.

But, what a gloriously sunny day to work outside!

    in the 70's no less!!!
yeah, I'm tired, sore, stiff and drank a whole pot of herbal tea, so I'll be able to sleep tonight, if I don't pee the bed..lol

I planted 20 of the tree babies I ordered from National Arbor Day..they arrived a few weeks ago and have been sitting in a brass spitoon for just as long.
also planted 5 trees my cousin gave me yesterday from the park in Lacey for Earth Day..
2 golden raintree and 3 ginko biloba..
then planted 7 tall cuttings from a lilac bush from a friend..
repotted a flat of violets, two shrubs I can't remember the name of..it has red berries and the leaves are a bright green.
repotted two butterfly bush plants, that went into huge pots..
oh, got 20 Walla Walla onions from a set in deep pots..

about the time I was just finishing up, my 'significant bother' showed up to take me to my mom's place..
45 minute drive, to get some things from her garage..my brother accepted an offer for her property and I needed to get whatever is left that I want.

we drove up and opened the shed and someone had taken the cement mixer I wanted to get..to mix potting soil, with other things in it..
    darn it!
but in the pile of things that had been ransacked, I found a huge pile of magazines of porcelain artist magazines..
that was a goldmine find for me!
I haven't even taken them out of the pile yet..I just got home a few minutes ago and I was doing a google search for some mountain shrub that has a certain kind of berry seeds..
    and tiny pink blossoms..

I got a few gallons of porcelain slip and a few books on the abc's of studio procedure of pouring and firing porcelain...too cool...
and also a huge boulder, just thick covered with beautiful moss. I carried that sucker to the truck..that's why I'm stiff and sore..geez that thing was heavy!
so, I feel like I got a lot done and will pay dearly for it, in the morning, when I try and fail to get out of bed..
yeah Sarah..same last sentence for me...lifted and toted and just about KILLED myself...lol

tomorrow it's supposed to rain..neener neener neener...we got a lot done today!

I have been doing things outside too, and it doesn't take much for me to almost KILL myself these days. Moved some garden junk around, pulled weeds, spread some leaves a friend brought me. It aggrevates me that I can't work out ALL day anymore. Had a birthday last week and turned 73, and wish I could do what I could do 10 years ago. Did a little craft show April 8-9 and loading and unloading by myself was easy while doing it, but I paid the price after the show-LOL
Going out to poison (spray) some weeds in a few minutes. I HATE doing that.....but they are getting ahead of me and the dewberries are going wild-not that the poison will kill them but may slow them down some. Kudzu showed one coming out of her cow skull. They will send out 8foot long (or longer) runners and root everywhere they touch the ground....
After that, I will come in and work on some totems and other garden junk. I have another small one-day show on May 21st.
Gotta make some wind chimes, Clean some chairs, and spray paint them for planter chairs.

we loaded up a trailer and a pickup plus a car, and headed out to a community yard sale, absolutely exhausted all of us, it was hot, dusty but luckily fast paced and the day went by pretty fast. teaching grandson to ride a bike; letting puppies outside (outside is over 80 acres WHICH they seem to think they need to explore..like jump in the river!!!!)keeping an eye on grandson who wants to play in the boys clubhouse he made(snakes snakes snakes everywhere!!) making several garden junk projects i think ya'll like!! it's taking much longer, but i did assembly-line the hole punching outside so i could keep an eye on all the KIDS :D removed and washed slipcovers AND put them back on..that wears me out! took an old slipcover and will attempt to create a wing back chair slipcover....LOL...adventures will be recorded! oh,gosh, lots of stuff going on. i found out i can't use hand tools like i used to!........ya'll get the idea :D

Wow, just after reading your posts I'm tired and feel like I need a nap. LOL I've been doing little things in the yard each day but have a long way to go before I'll be satisfied with it.

I was right there with you all over the weekend...dragged myself into the house Saturday night after working outside all day...cutting up dead trees, hauling, raking, pruning, etc. Shew....I forget how many things there are to hurt on this body of mine! But, I think they were all screaming....hope everyone is feeling a bit better by now though!

Wow we are all in the same boat. I wouldn't be so bad but we got the trees we cut down sawed up. A guy came with a portable sawmill and we now have some HUGE beams for the garage reconstruction and a bunch of boards and 2x4s and 2x6s, many of them 20' long. Pretty cool. but the bigger ones were so heavy. I helped dh to stack them and it was really to heavy for me. Killed my feet of all things!

I totally agree with all you girls about being tired. I used to be able to work
in my garden at least three or four hours with out "wearing out", but now,
after an hour and a half...I'm really pooped ! My birthday's in August and
I'll be 82, but hope I never have to give up my gardening and junking.
Love it all, and can't wait to get outside and dig.

I'm with all of you! When I think of the work I used to be able to do, I feel like a pathetic wimp now, but that's old age for you! When I overdo it now, I pay for it the next day!

I haven't really gotten started on the yard work yet. The ground is only now starting to dry out and it is still cold here.

I did start my annual flowers in their pots and have been hauling them outdoors days and back in for the nights. And I'm charging the batteries for the string trimmer tonight in hopes of trimming the borders tomorrow before the grass and weeds get a toehold. I have a few gar*den ornaments crying out for new paint, but that will have to wait a bit.

It sounds like you made quite a haul, strawberrygoat. Glad you were able to claim so many treasures. I'm still kicking myself for things I abandoned when I left my parents' home long ago.

We've gotten a couple of nice rains & more coming tomorrow they say. So that means the hedge grows & I got nearly all of it cut back & bought some plants, got the tomatoes planted at folks house & moved some stuff around for them & did some cleaning out of their flower bed. So haven't gotten my stuff in the ground yet, hope in morning before rain starts. Got peat moss today for 2 fuchsias DD got me. Mowed & edged front yard & swept the street, elms are so messy, mine died & is gone but neighbors shed like crazy. Most of heavy black dirt/ash stuff is gone. Can't imagine how long it will take Iceland to get rid of all those inches of ash, what a mess they are in over there. Hope the ash doesn't make it to US or Canada! Jan
