Should I take this from the trash? Creative help!

The electricians are here bringing the elevator up to a code change that happened this year. I noticed that they put a 5 or 6 foot length of wire which is covered in thick shiny metal that winds/coils around it, about 3/4 inch diameter. IT is very flexible and wants to be in a loose coil. I don't think it would stay together if I pulled the wire out. Suggestions? or should I leave it to go to the dump? Also found a big plastic drinking water bottle that goes to a cooler. What can I do with it? Mini green house comes to mind of course.

You might check out the trash to treasure thread! THey have TONS of ideas for almost everything to be reused and creatively too!

Sounds to me the wire you describing is copper. Copper is great to sell to a scrap yard and get quick cash. As far as the water bottle, fill it up with change to save money to buy more garden goodies at flea markets, yard sales and so forth. Or you can take it and fill it up with marbles, all sizes and colors.

Copper makes great bracelets, too. Supposed to be good for your joints. (But don't let kids wear it.)

Even if you don't take it out of the trash to use it, take both items to a recycling center.
