Blueberry Pruning

I just impulsively purchased a blueberry bush (Powder Blue) from the local Home Depot.

I read an article from a University that suggests pruning the bush in a manner that prevents fruiting for the first couple of years to promote larger/better quality harvests in the future.

The plant is apparently already at least a couple of years old. It is in a 2 gallon pot and has branches around 2 to 3' tall, and is very bushy in the center (many canes).

Does this mean that I should be pruning now, once I put in the ground in this way? Or has this already been done for me, prior to my purchasing. The article also mentioned that if not done, this could stunt the plants growth.

Thanks.

Remy
