spider mites and bleach

October 17, 2006

I've given up on using chemicals to kill spider mites, and yes, I have tried those expensive miticides like "Avid." Basically what I'm doing now is taking cuttings of the infested plants----I then soak them in bowls of water with a few drops of bleach added for about 6 hours. Hopefully I will be able to propagate the cuttings later. Am I right in assuming this will FINALLY kill the buggers? I can't imagine the mites can survive underwater, but these nasties have been such survivors nothing would surprise me. Any one try this method with success?
