Front Entry Help

Hi Guys. We purchased this house and are putting in a circular driveway in front of it, but we want to change the front of the house. It looks so drab. Was thinking of adding a dormer but not sure what to do. Also we are building a two door garage perpendicular to the right side of the house. We will do new landscaping as well. Any suggestions?

How aboutt putting a large portico on the front of the house at right angles to the front , in the middle , with large pillars, so the drive and entrance can be both under it..like a grand old house

Please consult an architect. Your roof is a gable roof but the front of the house extends like a gullwing roof. With the shallow pitch of the roof and the extension over the porch I feel neither a dormer nor a portico would look correct. An architect would be able to make a proper assessment and perhaps model something for you. Good luck.

Two simple options would be to paint the upstairs railing a contrasting color and add some landscaping in front of the porch. Planter boxes on the upstairs railing and hanging baskets in the downstairs porch would make it look more welcoming and would be simple fixes.

Your home is so spectacular...just the way it is!!!!! Those double chimneys and the simple landscaping are what make your house. Why not concentrate on the porch decor. May I ask where you live?

I agree with Judyg. Simple is sometimes better and concentrate on some beautiful planters and keep it simple! Good luck with the project. Landscaping on the right side would soften the straight lines of the home and add some visual interest as well.
