The directions SPECIFICALLY state that you are not to use this product with a hose end sprayer. It is in BOLD lettering on the label. You will need to obtain a pump sprayer, and then you can mix and apply this product according to the directions.

I'm a freaken moron! You know, I looked over the direction a few times and all I was was the temps to not us in.

I guess it's time for me to purchase another spray tank or switch back to WBG. The only reason I use this is because how well it worked last year, even with the problem spraying it with the hose end sprayer.

2 things it could be:

1. insolubles in the mix (ie gravel, leaves, twigs)

2. precipitates (ever made sugar "rock" candy?)

In the first case you would need to either use a pump sprayer or filter prior to using it. Something like a coffee filter should work depending on how thick this stuff is.

In the second case a MILD heating of the mixture should re-dissolve the precipitates back into solution. I'd get a big bucket and fill it with hot water, and then let the weed killer bottle sit in it for an hour or so. Then gently mix the liquid with some end-over-end. Try it out now in your hose-end sprayer. If it was just precip's it should work fine. If it was insolubles it will need to be filtered.

Or just go buy the proper equipment. :)

Folks, I went and bought a cheap pump sprayer. Now if this doesn't work, I'll have to switch to a different weed killer.

All I can say is that it sucks to drag a hose around a acre lot. I can also tell you that it's a PITA to keep pumping a pump sprayer. This I know from spraying my fruit trees.

Well I'm a worse moron because I read the instructions before buying it and used a hose end sprayer anyway, an Ortho dial-a-spray set to the rate recommended on the package. Thought I would take the chance. It dispensed half a bottle of product evenly over my front yard. No problems with clogging. I did shake the sprayer frequently to keep whatever solids are in there mixed up.

The back yard I did with the same sprayer, using half a bottle of Ortho Weed B Gone Max at the recommended rate. The Bayer seems to be working a little faster but both seem to be doing the job. My weeds this year are oxalis and spurge, with a few dandelions.

If you have no luck with spraying the Bayer through the hose end sprayer I would get the Weed B Gone. I can't imagine doing an acre with a pump sprayer. You will get a lot of exercise.

crabjoe - if you have a tractor or similar, you could buy one ot those pull behind spray models with the boom attachment for in-close work. Theyre are becoming more price friendly.
