No. As long as you keep the seeds moist and don't let them dry out you'll be fine.

It might be difficult to keep the seed wet this time of the year. Some type of mulch would help out with that, especially if you're planting KBG since it takes so long to germinate. If its not windy where you live you might want to think about a little straw. Planting in the fall or early spring is a different story than planting this time of the year. If not, just make sure to keep it wet. Good luck...

is this part of a permitted construction project or just a homeowner project. in my county, they require seed & straw as part of the erosion control rules enforced by the "Dirt Police". If it is a homeowner project, then straw is not necessary - although it does help to protect the seed by keeping the soil moist and from birds who will have a great time munching on your new seed.

If I keep the new seed watered..do you think I'll be able to grow the lawn (with new topsoil added) in the footprint of the removed Norway Spruce? The stump was grinded out..and I've raked and raked the wood chips as best as I can...
