Tips for blueberry area

Hello all,

I have a defined area with three spruce trees and rhododendron. I'd say it's around 200 or so square feet. I'd like the fill the area with blueberry bushes as an ornamental ground cover with the potential to get the 4 or 5 tasty berries that the birds don't get. Currently, the area is covered with landscape cloth and then mulch which has mostly degraded to topsoil with tons of creeping charlie, young buck thorn and creeping nightshade. Most of these invasives has stayed on top of the cloth from what I can tell.

What's my best plan of attack? I can get various root stock from a local nursery so was going to rip out the cloth and all of the stuff on top of it, plant the blueberries and then cover the whole area with pine bark mulch to help keep the weeds down.

I'm leaning towards pine bark as it's a little less of an eyesore as far as mulch is concerned and I have some in another area that is full of spruce.

Thanks!
