Unless you have a large space I would not recommend dark flooring. Lighter color wood will open up your space. Either way wood flooring will always help when selling property.

I also love the rich look of dark ebony stained hardwood floors, but wouldn't want to clean them. How about something with some color variation? The walnut floors pictured are exquisite!

those floors are stunning! great idea- not too dark and they have life to them. NOw the problem is I have to find them.

Leslie we could make them for you. :-) Do you have any questions about them? Many people are using an oil finish with Walnut now. It gives it more of a satin look. Another idea would be to install White Oak floors with a clear water born finish and then before you move have them stained a darker color. White Oak takes colors very well.

Earlier today someone posted a question about decorating with dark floors because they own a rental property with beautiful dark wood floors that they love but that potential tenants apparently keep balking at because it darkens the room. They wanted to decorate it to make it lighter and downplay the floors (which is easy to do). The point is, not everyone loves dark floors. I think they are beautiful, but I'd recommend the more medium-toned color MM suggested as much more practical and, in the future, attractive to a wider range of buyers.
