Repurposed Calendar

Someone left a Japanese art 2009 calendar here at work for about 2 weeks, sitting by the copy machine. I asked around, to make sure it didn't belong to anyone, and when no one claimed it, I took it home. Some of the floral pictures are really pretty and I thought they might look nice framed for our bedroom.

Well, I also liked these 2 other pages, that had butterflies. I had this extra frame and matte laying around, and decided to do the little project last night. I think it turned out really cute, and just wanted to share. I still haven't decided where I'm going to hang it. For now, it's on an existing hook on the door below the stairs in the living room. We'll see how it does there. Who knows... it might have already found it's permanent spot.

Thank you. I can't wait to do the floral prints, and see how they turn out.

The harmony between the color tones of the prints and the wood paneling behind them, are juxtaposed by their angles.

All work to create a more interesting scene.

Beautiful. Peaceful.

You have a lovely touch.

I have old Wysoki calendars too, K.J. In fact, I have cat calendars from the last dozen years or so I can't bear to pitch. Also Wegman's dogs in drag. I consider Dogs Play Poker to be high art, BTW.

Suzy, I gave my last 'Cat Wysoki' to a lady I was pruning/deadheading roses for a couple years ago---(easily 100 of the buggers!)----anyhow, she really wanted it in the worst way--so, she got it.

She didn't call me back the following season, and boy, was I RELIEVED! That job put new meaning in the word, 'BORING!!!!!!!!'
Although I will say, I loved her little 'Betty Boops'......

Thanks so much, everyone. :-) I'm so pleased with it, still.

Krista Marie, I collect old postcards, and have a few frames full of them hanging around as well.

Love it! I too had a Japaense woodblock calendar. I learned that I love Hokusai best, the one with the "wave" picture that is famous. I've never framed any of the ones I've kept, but always meant to. And I have unused frames that I've never used, but meant to. I see you combined those problems in a most beautfiul way.

How's the wedding planning going Tisha?

Here is a link that might be useful: Hokusai
