I know this issue is often discussed over on the Soil & Compost forum here so check out those discussions too.

You'll find a range of recommendations from 60 days to 120 days (120 is the most common research-based recommendation) prior to planting depending on if the manure is actively composted with additional ingredients, actively composted by itself, or just passively stockpiled. The one thing I think most agree on is you never use it fresh or less than 30 days old. Personally I'd never use it even that fresh.

Thanks Dave! I made the mistake of using The hot manure last Spring and I even diluted it down I thought. I'm past the 90 days fir sure and a lit of the manure was older so I feel safe in planting in another month or so plus my snow peas and lettuces ate looking good. Thanks again and I will read the info you sent me. I would hate to loose all my heirloom seedlings

The 90 and 120 day suggestions are by the National Institute for Health and Centers for Disease Control to aid in preventing the spread of disease pathogens that are common in manure. 90 days for above ground crops, snow peas and lettuce for example, and 120 for in ground crops, onions for example. Your snow peas and lettuce are most likely outside that 90 day time frame while the onions may be iffy.
If manure is spread on garden soil t should be tilled in very quickly.
