Ive used it on my lawn for a few years now with no problems. The pellets dissolve as soon as you water them.

I don't see any problems with alfalfa. I seem to recall about palms needing specific ratio and nutrients but that's for synthetic stuff. Organically cared for, it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe fish meal, kelp meal, and so on will give you the greatest benefits. I've used kelp meal before but I'm too cheap now. Once a year with kelp meal is great for your plants. Fish fertilizer is very potent fertilizer. No idea about the smell but im sure it will smell fishy! :) I had thought about using it as my first fertilizer of the year for big green up but the price changed my mind...

tkz, the alfalfa pellets (rabbit chow size) will work as an organic fertilizer for your lawn and garden. Whether it clears up the yellow tips - who know until you try it. You can get alfalfa pellets in 50-pound bags at your local feed store. For a palm I would apply about a cup for every inch in diameter. Scatter it around the base of the tree about the diameter of the tree out. Moisten the pellets after applying. The day after you moisten them you will notice they have turned into little worms. Just step on them to mash the flakes onto the soil for good contact. It takes a full three weeks for the alfalfa pellets to convert into plant food, so be a little patient.
