Haven't had any issues personally.

I've used alfalfa. About 3 yrs. ago, I bought some herbs and the seller gave me a small sack of alfalfa pellets. She said to put a handful in the planting hole because it was an organic fertilizer. I bought a lg. bag AKA fish food. We live in the country, and our cats love it, so I'm sure the raccoons, possums, etc., roaming around love it also or anything that has a taste for fish.

Kudzu9, it sounds like you're using a liquid. I've used fish emulsion (liquid) and can't say that I've ever had a probem with it,despite all the animals around.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I am not sure why but on occassion there would be evidence of "critters" in the garden after spraying the Alaska Fish Fertilizer while other times no evidence of critter invasion could be found.

I love what fish emulsion does for the plants but stopped using the liquid when I found teeth marks on the neck of the bottle. I switched to kelp products.

I have been recommended to use fish emulsion to deter woodchucks. It seem to wear off too quickly. Regards, Peter.

Fish fertilizers may deter Woodchucks (vegetarians) but are well known to attract Raccoons, Skunks, Opossums, and other omnivores.

I learned it the hardway, I used fish emulsion on my tomato seedlings and the possum destroyed them.
