There is a strain of bacillus thuringiensus (BT)which works pretty effectively on CPB in the larval stage -- I think it's the San Diego/tenebrionsis strain. It's sold under various brand names -- "CBP Beater" is one that comes to mind -- just look at the active ingredients to find the right one. In my experience, however, it doesn't work very well on the mature beetles. For those, it's the dreaded hand picking -- although, you might want to grab your hand vacuum to speed up that process.

Best solution is row cover. That won't work for you this year now that you've already got an infestation, but keep it in mind for next year.

Are these the Colorado Potato Beetle or could they be the Wood Lice, Roly Polies, Sow Bugs that many people also call "potato bugs"?

I have the orange striped CPB.

I am picking them off & feeding them to ant hills & chicken for now.
