Too much potassium (K)?

Just read an interesting article in Orchids concerning we generally use too much potassium when fertilizing orchids and that they get 'addicted' and stop taking up other nutrients as well as they should or could. It basically said that we need about 1/10 of the amount of potassium and that an increase in magnesium and calcium would also benefit the 'kids'. I think First Ray has a product out that replicates the described formula closely, (K-Lite).

Has/does anyone adhere to a very low potassium fertilizer regiment for their 'kids? If so, the results?

Any thoughts about this way of fertilizing?

Thanks,

Bob
