Broken Leaf on Phal

This orchid has been through a lot - I got it last year for Valentines day and it was my first orchid, so it's had to deal with some unintentional abuse, like leaving it outside overnight when it got a little too chilly (just under 50 degrees) which I believe is why some of the leaves have spots on them.

I woke up this morning and discovered it had been blown over by the wind overnight and one of it's leaves broke :( Should I cut the leaf off?

Also, it is currently growing a spike, but it is doing some weird things. It looks like it's trying to grow a second spike at one of the nodes? And the top most part of the spike has stopped growing tall and is instead growing some weird nodule. Is it confused? I'm going to let it keep doing it's thing I just am curious what exactly it's growing.

Must be nice to be able to have it grow outdoors. I would leave the leaf on. Even partially attached leaves can keep their color (meaning not dry up or die) and feed the plant.

Curious to see what the other stalk will do. Although it is allowed to be outdoors, it is still in pot. Do you add anything other nutrition for the plant? I was thinking that maybe the stubby flower stalk is a sign that conditions are right for flowering but it just doesn't have enough nutrition or vitamin to form a proper flower stalk.

I have been using Miracle Grow Orchid Spikes, but haven't put one in in a while (probably 3-4 weeks) - I will put a new one in tonight!

Your Phalaenopsis is under stress. Clue is the washed out lemon coloured leaves. Perhaps too much light during the day and perhaps not enough feeding.
What is NPK of Miracle Gro Orchid Spikes and where does the orchid spend the day?

arthurm - the NPK of the fertilizer is 10-10-10, what is the optimal balance for an orchid?

This orchid spends the day on a patio that gets dappled sun throughout the day. Maybe an hour or two of direct morning sun but that's it. I moved it this morning to a balcony that is in shade all day, maybe it'll like it there better.
