I would drop the whole thing into a 2" larger pot without bark or anything else. The empty space will fill with roots and you'll have a very happy plant which NEVER needs to be repotted.

I did read about this method in other threads and I am going to do that. It seems happy the way it is growing....why fix what isn't broken.

Initially the plant is wobbly so I'll add a couple of rocks or pieces of wood to stabilize the small pot inside the larger pot until the roots bind everything together. Don't worry about what's inside the smaller pot as the plant will eventually totally depend on it's outside root system. As long as it continues making healthy new roots I would never repot it.

I have a huge Cattleya in a 6" pot which was last repotted in 1988. The plant measures 2' x 1' and is entirely dependent on the outside roots, just like in nature. After 25 years I doubt that there is anything recognizable inside that 6"pot, probably all washed away by now.

Someone gave me that plant in 2,000 having neglected it for 12 years and apologized for that. He actually did the plant a favor which I continued since then.
