I need help giving my room a sabby chic touch!

Some weeks ago I wanted to change my room and give it a shabby chic style. So I made kinda of a make up table and change my bed and stuff, but I just think that there's something missing in it. Can you please help me with some cute ideas that could give my room a shabby chic style? P.S I'm 16.

Hi there! Try looking for some pretty vintage mirrors or old picture frames to replace the orange and yellow art pieces you have above your bed. A huge part of the shabby chic look comes from found objects that look aged. Have fun shopping at flea markets, consignment shops or Goodwill.

I think you need to lose the purple curtains. white shears 2 or 3 times the length of your rod, will give some privacy by making them more opaque. I'd replace the bean bag with a small upholstered chair in a neutral color.if you take a little sand paper to the table and put a more ornate mirror over it you'll start to see it come together and like the last person I would replace the art work with mirrors and picture frames you don't need any art work in the frames if they are ornate . also if you take the stack of books near the bed and put them under the piece of glass wear in the middle of the table and put the lamp at one end it will give you different heights like the candles in the picture it will add interest to the look. if they are different colors stack them pages outward. and if the 2 large teddys don't have a lot of sentimental value I would move them to another room the other little ornament as well, and put a small table in there place .

White shears for ikea, replace the art work with something lighter and airier. You could even just paint the frames for the art you have white as a cheap solution- and then hang them closer together at the same height. Also a cool shabby chic older desk or short dresser next to your bed would tie it all together. Good luck!!

I agree that you need more privacy than the shears. Go to JCPenney.com for drapes with grommets. They will give you privacy; when you have lights on at night with shears, people will be able to see everything.

You could make a headboard out of a white door and turn it sideways. I am sure you could google how to do that. Have seen it done on design shows. You could even use upholsterer tacks to put fabric inserts in the indentions that doors usually have with a little padding for color and interest.

Being 16, you might want a bulletin board in a frame you get to post up memoribilia and photos.

    Hope you keep us posted.

It would be nice to get a table beside your bed for the lamp and some shelves on the wall for boxes and baskets to keep you coloction of stuffed animals and books. All the other ideas, especially about new curtains are good advice.

Definitely change the curtains. The bulletin board is a great idea. Maybe you can put a crackle finish on your mirror. They sell the Martha Stewart crackle paint for about 8$ at Home Depot.

I'm decorating my new place in Shabby Chic as well and what I love the most is that it doesn't cost a lot. Visit craigslist often for great pieces that people are selling that fit in the look you're going for. You can buy a used wing back chair and recover it using drop cloth fabric. If you're crafty, you can personalize with your own designs or initials.
