Did you read the whole article? One could use a granulated organic fertilizer for their grit instead of the corncob bits. How this unacceptable to "true organic gardeners"?

If a granulated organic fertilizer was used that might be okay provided that fertilizer was needed by the soil. Cobs from Genetically Engineered corn would not be.

Three things stand out.

1. Price. Compared to conventional sprays, FIVES TIMES the price for a single application.

2. One application may not be enough.

Go ahead, argue semantics about where the corn cob comes from, or what is organic enough.

3. While they are clear that damage to desirable plants can occur, they are totally unclear as to the details. Any such discussion must involve EIL thresholds, but the point remains...with a high price of application, and a method of application that can easily damage your crop...are you going to be the first to try this?
