Late last year at the compose site I collected two root balls that had been in flower pots with a dead vine attached. I re-potted them and kept them inside during the winter. Both started sending out new shoots, but when I took them out in Spring, they died after a cold spell. Again they started sending out new shoots, but the shoots died again after a heavy rain spell. I removed one from the pot and note that the roots are starting to rot. That may be from heavy rains not long ago. I want to plant these in the ground, but have no idea as to their needs are. Any ideas on what these are and what care they need.
