OMG would I love that pond!!!

Since catfish are usually at the lower feeding levels (at least those with which I'm familiar) and Koi are dashing and darting closer to the surface, I don't see any problems with having them in the same pond. Others with more knowledge may have better information than I do.

However, if you are going to raise catfish to catch, I don't see how you can avoid catching a Koi, which seems almost a sin to me :-)

Lovely pond. Lovely pond!!! What fun it would be to landscape it. Be sure to show us photos after you have done so.

Here are a few pictures of our catfish pond. My wife and I built it with a 50 X 80 firestone liner that we instaled by ourself. I picked up 150 chanel catfish friday at JandJ aquafarm that is a mile away behind our house.
we are almost finished lanscaping now I put tan landscaping fabric over the edge of the pond liner to help the marginal plants ( mugwort, water celery, creeping jenny, wolly thyme, wire weed and watercress ) to grow over the hot black liner.
I still have the filter and stream to put in.

Built a fishing platform to catch the catfish. Had to restock 1 time first time had too many and they got big too fast, water got bad.

I have a floating rope to keep the Azole and Hyacinth in 1/2 of the pond to keep it away from my skimmer.

Water is very clear catfish are a good size

I'll bet the pond attracts a lot of wildlife.
What did you do with the soil that came out of the hole?
