Is the seaweed really "trash"? Would you be wrecking the local ecosystem that depends on the seaweed washing back into the water? And the stuff on the beach that thrives on washed up piles of weed?

How will you be shipping this rotted seaweed solution?
Do you have enough room for the barrels it will need for the 2-month?

Do you have a steady supply of seaweed? If you can't keep your customers supplied they will go elsewhere.

Have you added up the cost of production facility (the barrels), the collecting and transport, the packaging, and the shipping to get a rock bottom price?

It's a rather loosely regulated and even less regulatory enforced area.

You'll be competing with other businesses that stretch the truth based on loose studies as well as straight out lies. It's a weird, wide-open market to get into.

You may have a selling point with a more "eco-friendly" mixture, but you'll be going up against people who claim their seaweed extra increases yields by 50%, cure all disease, kill every bad pest while ignoring the good, make your soil into the perfect medium overnight, will help you win the lottery, and extend your life by 100 years.

While these people may not try to take your piece of business down...it's a hard area to compete in with a lot of really nasty people that have horrible at-all-costs business practices as long as they can push product out the door.

Unfortunately, because of this...your marketing is going to be as important, if not more important, than your actual product.

I don't count seaweed as trash but your right in saying that it's important to the Eco-system but having an abundance of it causes high concentrations of hydrogen sulphide to be released into the air which can be a health risk and the seaweed is dangerous for dogs if consumed.
And we wouldn't be taking all of it as we know the importance of its role in the Eco-system - and the large companies rip tons from the ocean floor at any one time which would have bigger consequences and we would pick up litter that is washed up onto our shores to try and help the environment.

Yeah I see a lot of the claims these company's are making and some of it sounds ridiculous.
And a lot of these companies get their extracts/concentrates from the same manufacturer but they all have different claims about the benefits etc and just stick their own labels on their bottles.
Your right in saying It would be tough going against them with their fancy marketing - but i think that if people want the best quality Seaweed Fertilisers, then they would go for natural decomposed unprocessed seaweed fertiliser.

Change This.. '' natural decomposed unprocessed seaweed fertiliser. '' into this... ''lacto fermented natural unprocessed seaweed fertiliser.''.....and you are on your way.
It's a very simple process used in one way or another on all continents as a traditional way of PRESERVING the growing season's produce for leaner times... Maybe you could buy some ''silage innoculant'' or even Kefir or Whey .Fill your tank/vessel only three quarters full (to allow for expansion and foams) have an Airlock to allow escape of gasses but no ingress of oxygen (it is an ANAEROBIC process)...agitate the ''Cap'' (as occurs in red wine production) some how (rotary drum comes to mind) and in a month or so (the times needed would take testing ) at 20-35 c you would filter(.3mm ?) most of the solids out and bottle. Should be diminishingly viable in the life forms you choose to cultivate for your customers for 2 years or so.- ;after which you still have all the usual benefits of seaweed based fertilisers.
