Wonder why some Photos end up sideways? Anyway, the plant ((Phalaenopsis) Phaelaenopsis sounds like a bad omen.) looks to be in pretty good condition.
Cutting back to a node may produce another flowering spike, but generally the number of flowers will be less than on the main spike.
Only a couple of months to autumn and a slight cooling down might make the plant grow a new spike from the base.
As for cutting to a node lots and lots of past threads about that. Read some of the past threads, find them by putting Phalaenopsis Cutting in the search box at the top of this discussions page. The choice is up to you.

Thanks for the help (and for the spelling correction--some words just give me trouble!). I didn't realize that a new flower spike would grow from the base. A real newbie to this, I am. Thanks also for the link. :) I never wanted an orchid, I am much better with outdoor plants, but this was so beautiful...
