Least wanted household guests?

Despite our best efforts, even the most gorgeous homes sometimes have a pest or two.

Of the choices here, which one is your least wanted uninvited guest?

Let's see...I've had so many of these things happen...

Ants, while annoying, don't bother me that much, and I recently discovered that they hate cinnamon of all things, so now I know how to get rid of them, but mice freak me out. Those are right up there for me.

I did have a skunk die under our house and that was a complete nightmare.

Still...the one that scares me the most are spiders. No, thank you!

Snakes don't scare me -- most around me are non-poisonous and eat poisonous snakes and keep the mouse population down (I live in the country). I have a lot of black widow spiders, too, but they're fairly reclusive. Roaches are awful and I HATE them, as well as most crawly critters. But termites are hidden little buggers that can cost a lot of money to get rid of and ruin a good home. So I chose termites.

While we were under construction we had a crawl space entry that our workers kept leaving open at the end of the day. My biggest fear was that a family of something...raccoons, mice, stray cats, etc....would think that it was a welcome new home for them and multiply! Now that I've heard Emily's story - animals dying under the house sounds much worse than breeding.

Termites for the damage and cost, but roaches for the grossness. Something about them just makes my skin crawl. Mice I actually find cute, but they are gross an messy when they leave poo and pee around, so I like them only as pets, or to stay outdoors.

I'd have to say spiders because they bite. Although, if you ever have had a pantry moth problem, that is a huge downer. Out goes all the food.

any ideas how to get rid of tiny spiders?

I agree with Bond Girl, NONE of the above!

I don't like any of them but would have the biggest issue with mice or rats!

Definitely termites ... all the rest can be blocked and discouraged fairly easily.

Spiders eat roaches. Snakes eat mice and rats.

You left out bats, though honestly I prefer our occasional bat intrusions to cockroaches or rats or termites. It was a hard choice between those three for most undesirable. I went with roaches as the most repellant.

All of the above. They all have the potential to cause damage. Keep your home clean, dry and secure (close up gaps). If any of these pest find a way in, locate their spot and eliminate it quickly.
    Don't forget squirals and fleas.
Having a cat in the house helps rid or deter some of these pest and offers a cuddly friend to entertain you.

Bats!!!!!!!! I hate them and they are a protected species so cannot be exterminated only relocated, such a pain.
Almost every single one of these makes me cringe. If I had to pick one, I'd choose snakes, but cockroaches are right up there!
True, but mice don't flap about your room in the dark, brushing close to your head. Outdoors, bats are very useful. Indoors, they are fodder for nightmares.
yes of course outside bats are good, in the house not so much fun !

Roaches are the most filthy disgusting things on the planet! I can handle everything else.....

Last night our reoccurring visitor (read "field mouse") had the audacity to climb into our dog's supper dish and enjoy snacking DIRECTLY UNDER OUR SONIC MOUSE REPELLER!!! I don't like rodents...

I wish we had bats, though I'm petrified of them getting tangled in my hair. Worth it though to get rid of mosquitoes. We have all the above pests but I think the termites cause the most damage and are hardest to eradicate, so termites for me (especially since I just built a new redwood porch and replaced many feet of siding).

I hate mice and rats. Especially NYC rats that are the size of cadillacs. The thing with them is they really move in like a roommate. They mate like crazy and even if you think you get one and another shows up you wonder how many more are there. But my total skeeve out are those waterbugs. Huge giant cockroaches. When we bought our home it had an old oil tank and when we were doing the pre-closing inspection and turned the light on. My lord. Dozens of them ran (seemingly towards us). The realtor was this old guy who was a hoot and had the whole history of how they came to be in many NYC buildings. He said it was because the old brownstones used coal to heat them back in the day and they came in with the coal shipments. I was like who gives a eff. Get me outta here. To this day. Basements are not my thing. That and on vacay in Jamaica one day we were staying at this resort in Negril and it rained (like first horseman of the apocalyse level rain). It rained buckets and when it appeared we were not going to get back on the beach my hubby and I went to the room and the walls were covered in waterbugs, centipedes and other gag worthy critters.

All of the above...but what scares me enough to have me move...literally...are snakes. A snake in the house! Even the thought of it scares me. I'm from New York and now I live in the South...so I've seen snakes around my little country house...Copperhead, Rattler, Water moccassins. Second are Termites...but we get an inspection every year without fail. Third...spiders I've seen the Black Widow and they give me the shivers.

I went with Termites as if you have that problem forget about having a house to have other pests annoy you! Mice, cockroaches ( probably the worst ) of annoyances, dangerous spiders, frightening. Main bugs over here are cockroches, especially in outside kitchens, mice always make a run indoors in the winter and when it rains so we just watch out for them during that time, no problems with spiders much, ants are manageable to keep at bay. A relative's house is in a little remote area near desert dunes, so they had to put gravel in the court yard so as not to walk directly near scorpions. So scorpions are very scary! I don't even want to think of snakes either *shivers*

My husband removed a bat from our home one morning this week, so today I vote for bats. While they were not a choice on the list, they've gotten a lot of deserved attention in this poll.

I really do have a loathing for cockroaches. They stink, plus there are a few with the capability to fly. That's even worse.

I had to jump out of bed one night as a result of a cockroach. It flew on me... Gosh! Sometimes I question their existence but then I remember they are scavengers and eat just about anything so I guess, in a weird way, they clean up the environment.

They are strange in their behaviour and they bite.
