I breezed over their web page. The fertilizers technically are not organic in that you could not use them if you were a certified organic grower. However, judging by the ingredients they look like they would work fine.

I'm not selling my produce so i don't need the certified stamp. But is this still "healthy" for me to consume myself? What are the technicalities involved that this would not be considered TRUE organic? Do i need a fert if i'm composting?

I forget exactly what all was in the Fox fertilizers, but they contained things like urea. There is nothing unhealthy about eating plants fertilized with urea, but urea is a synthetic fertilizer cooked up in a fertilizer plant. Calling a fertilizer 'organic' that contains urea is misleading. A good many, if not the majority, of fertilizers that are sold as 'natural' and 'organic' are comprised of organic materials that have been fortified with synthetic fertilizers. This is done to get the analysis up and the price down.

It is certainly possible that you could get by using compost. The only way to know for sure (besides trying it) is to send a soil sample to a testing lab. It really is a good idea to do every other year or so. They can tell you exactly what your soil needs and you can fertilize accordingly. A test only costs $10-$15.

Yes, I don't believe Fox Farm is certified organic....If you certified organic in liquid form a good choice is
METANATURALS....Do a search. A bit spndy but great results....

Those products would be unnecessary in an organic garden because the soil would be built up with enough organic matter that plants would grow strong and healthy. If you needed to use what they sell then you are not quite organic yet.

I ONLY use Fox Farm and it really is worth the price you pay for it. Google comparison photos to other products. I GLADLY pay extra for quality. I've spent too much money on plants to plant them inrappy soil and fertilizer. I want my plants to thrive not just survive. Descriptions of products need an upgrade and they was to start selling t-shirts online. But, those are my only complaints. And no, i do not work for them. I just REALLY BELIEVE in their products.
