What is the water temp?

It's been a bit cold here for a couple days. I checked the temp this morning in that stocktank and it's about 54-56F. The lily in the other stocktank is growing, and is probably the same temp. Shouldn't a hardy lily grow at that temp?

Sometimes if the winter is really really cold (-5 or -10 for a good while) the lilies will not make it. You don't list your state but I know zone 5 had a rough winter in many places. I lost a Colorado hardy lily last year after a week into the -5 range which is unusually cold for here. It was at the bottom of a 2 foot deep pond; the Citronella in the same pond was fine. This year I put a stock tank heater in with the lilies and all came thru great; by 55 degrees they had multiple leaves.
Bottom line: probably dead.

The tuber is still very firm........so I'll give it another week or so. Shouldn't it be mushy if it's dead?
Maybe I didn't leave any eyes on it when I thinned it last Fall........but I'm pretty sure I did. And it was in an extremely protected area all winter. Hopefully it's just slow..........like me. :)
