I just responded to your other post. Don't worry about watering in South Florida. It is hot, light is very high and your plants are growing. Water, water, water.

Just a quick comment. People get root rot when the plants are overwatered. What that usually means is their plants are not getting enough light to trigger growth. Their mix is poor and holds too much moisture. Usually they have poor air movement. I have found that even with a poor mix, if the light is high and plants are growing, they will just send their roots outside the pot and still do well.

You have none of those conditions. Don't worry about the split leaf. You'll learn to look less often. The cure for that is to buy more orchids!
