it seems like my answers are all the same. that was a custom sofa made by one of my workrooms. the client and i had been looking at some Italian sofas but it was easier and more economical to have them made locally. the legs are polished stainless steel and the chaise is actually a separate ottoman--very practical for larger groups which they often have.

Where is the colorful art from, and who is it?

This client is an avid art collector and is also a VP at Sotheby's where he is very involved in working with collectors. The colorful piece on the wall below the clerestory is from the 60's (I believe). Its paint and collage and does have a known provenance/artist. But we'd have to ask him if we want the exact answer (which i'm more than happy to do if you like). That piece has since been relegated to a guest bedroom. For the past four years or so there is a wonderful photograph in place of the painting.
