Carla, my grocery store carries short ribs, its just a cut, ask and they may be able to accomodate you. If they won't then country style would be my choice for shreding the meat.

I don't know if I should include myself in the company of cooks or not :) but I'd agree that country style ribs would work for shredding. You might want to trim them up a bit if very fat.

I bought an inexpensive pork shoulder roast, cubed, browned, and simmered it with Mexican seasonings a couple of weeks ago, then shredded that just as the liquid had almost cooked out. Tacos that night, half in the freezer for something else later.

Short ribs are beef, so look in the beef section, they shouldn't be hard to find or just ask the butcher. I agree, "country style" pork ribs should work OK too.

Yep short ribs are are most certainly beef delicious with good Italian balsamic vinegar and roasted even though I don't eat red meat anylonger.
