Note of caution on dyes

Sporadically we've seen dyes for ponds. Usually to make reflecting ponds look prettier but occasionally mentioned for algae control

So I stumbled across this link for a food grade black dye with enzymes and free shipping.

I was going to do a ''test'' to see what would happen. I put one milliliter, 3% of the recommendation, in the wife's outdoor fish tank. Immediately the whole 500 gallon turned black! Black as old fashioned India Ink. 24 hours later it was still black. I started drawing it down using the water for the perennials. The inside of the tank (Fiberglass I think.) was dyed bright green.

There was apparently no harm done to fish or plants.
