Winter animals (pics)

There are "up" sides to the colder weather, and to having a husband and dogs tired out by outdoor exercise...

Here's my view when I looked behind me a couple minutes ago... makes me wonder if there's any room on that couch for me!

{{gwi:203982}}

Oh, and here's Izzy in her dogsled harness. (When the {{gwi:203977}} hooks to it, the harness goes to the base of her tail. As soon as we have a good snow cover (later this week?) the neighbor kids have agreed to help me train her to pull by going to the (flat) park at the top of the hill with me, sitting in their plastic sleds, and holding the rope's handle while I get her to run. Should be great fun for all of us!

Yo Jaz, Izzy doesn't look like she thinks that harness is fun, lol. Hope she cheers up when you're out on the hill.
The other photo of all the critters on the couch makes me want to get in my jammies and snuggle down in my bed.

Izzy is going to pay you back big time for that harness. I've seen that look before & nothing good comes of it.

yawn......that first picture makes me sleepy. Think I'll grab a book and crawl into bed. By the way,I think we have the same sofa. They sure scrunch down nicely, don't they?

Great pictures...I see you don't let your animals get on the furniture either:)

Is this going to be some new kind of race called the "Izziterod"? I'm not sure about, this. Is Izzy sees a bird those kids could be in for a wild ride!

What fun that is. I want come out to play with you guys some time.

Hold Jaz's feet up lie down beside her, put your feet on
Steve's lap. I think there is just enough room by Texie.

I'd keep an eye on Izzy, I know that look too.
Better yet keep an eye on the harness when you take it off.
    That sucker could disappear.

Yeah Jaz, Izzy does not look happy, I remember that look with my Sadie, got her the Buffalo Bills collar, she liked it just fine, nice plastic clip on job...well after the Bills lost their 3rd Super Bowl she somehow found it and chewed the heck out of it...who'da thunk.

I think we could have a contest re captions for Izzy's picture...LOL...but the real thoughts of Izzy would probably get us all banned! josh

    From Freckles.

How could you do that to Izzy!!! It's outrageous, she's a bird dog for goodness sakes!!! Find a husky or malamute to do a proper job......

    Dear Freckles:

Mom says that a lot of non-traditional breeds are being used for sledding these days. In some cases, greyhounds are being bred into traditional sledding breeds, imparting their larger hearts, greater red cell count, and greater lung capacity (but still limited by their lack of winter protection). Mom says Jaz would never pull, and I agree. She flunked out of racing for being a scardy-cat, and she'd probably be afraid of this too.

The breeds making progress in the sport of particular interest to mom are poodles and German Shorthair Pointers. Since my breed was developed 120 or so years ago by crossing the progenitor of the French Poodle with the English Pointer (one of the progenitors of the the German Shorthair Pointer), and since I love to pull on my leash (unless mom makes me heel) and love plowing through snow, mom thought this would be a no-brainer of a sport for me. Do you have any idea how hyper I am and how hard mom has to work every night to tire me out so I can be good?

Mom assures me it will be fun, and that it will keep me in great shape for BIRD finding. (Did someone say BIRDS???)

About the look: I'm constantly giving mom "looks." You would too if you had to live with this lady. Sometimes she dresses me up in costumes, like the {{gwi:203978}} this Halloween, the {{gwi:203979}}, or the {{gwi:203980}}. If you were me, you'd be wary whenever that fruitcake got out her camera and told you to pose too!

I {{gwi:203981}}. I'm happy for mom's company whenever she joins me in it... (even though we both know she's a little off her proverbial rocker.)

I do want to thank you for your concern, Freckles. Mom told me that you're a very busy dog with a lot of supervising of other dogs to do. For your sake, I hope none are as rambunctious as I!

    Love,
    Izzy

Oh! And Sheila, if she saw a bird, she'd just stop and point it. She's pretty good at not chasing them when we call her off. (Finally!)

And Husky, if Izzy had a Buffalo Bills collar, she'd instantly become my dad's favorite grand-dog. He's beyond fanatical about that team... in spite of the heartbreak.

Relaxing pic. The lap warmers are essential this time of year.

I just love you folks! I don't think I have ever found a site than can be more lively and fun-loving, or serious when the situation calls for it, than this one. I had everyone at the office laughing over the dog and the unbaked rolls posting, and this one has had me laughing so hard that Bri', the old Persian cat who owns us, came in to see what her slave was making noises about....

Uhh, I think I have that couch, too. Is this something that ties the gp'ers together, the same taste in couches? I also have the large male object with two cats on the lap asleep on the couch on a daily basis. No dog.

Did you ladies get your couches at The Leather Center before they went belly up? I wish they hadn't. They used to keep leather swatches from the same dye lot and I could call them to come out and replace damaged portions of my furniture for not a lot of money when necessary. The animals have (badly) worn off part of the dye on a big section of the couch and I wish repair were still an option. Comfy couch, but it isn't pretty unless it's full of critters who cover the missing dye!
