Weather

Today could not be more beautiful outside. Hyacinths coming up, daffs too. The dogwoods will bloom if this continues. Is that late freeze looming out there on our horizon? I certainly hope not.

How's your weather?

I have blue sky and the sun shining and low 60's perfect condition to be out in the garden pulling weeds:) Crocus are out, daffodils are blooming now as well as Iris have started. Both the ornamental Plum trees still have pink blossoms and the roses are beginning to have a few nice blooms, looks like spring is here.

Yesterday -- bright, sunny, blue skies, warm. Today, rainy overcast. Tomorrow, snow forecast over 500 feet. Blah blah blah.

I have daffodils in bud, crocus in full hurl, daphne in full odor... nothing that will be crunched to death by the downcoming cold front. (It's coming STRAIGHT from the north, very dramatic satellite...)

As soon as we've had, oh, a week of dry and over freezing, I'll get my holes dug and my 4 Teas and 1 Bourbon into the ground! (Oh dear, sounds like I'm doing a lot of sipping....)

It was 65 yesterday. So I stripped sod on another new rose bed. It is 62 and windy today, so I turned the soil. I couldn't get it done last year!

Ahhhhh the weather has been GLORIOUS the last few days here. Hit 75 today! I got one of my beds enlarged and planted about 14 or so roses this week! Everything is leafing out good and tulip and dogwood trees fixing to start busting open. I sure pray that we don't get another killing frost but it's still soooo early. Easter's still over a month away.

Wind. We have got wind. Days of wind. But it is warm and it's nice to go outside and get windblown. I've had to rig shelters around a couple of new roses that wilted, indicating that they don't have much by way of roots...

    "How's your weather"?

Simply Marvelous! Around 65 today and the same for tomorrow but can not do anything in the rose garden yet, snow is still on the ground, but melting quickly! So maybe this week I will be out there removing the leaves and old mulch. This year I am thinking of putting down white stone all around my roses, has anyone any experience with doing this? I am so tired of the red mulch and I believe bugs are hibernating in it over the winter, and instead of replacing the mulch every year, I know the stone would be forever.

The weather has been beautiful here the last couple of days, and our roses have been pruned as if Valentine's Day, BUT never buy an egg until it's laid. There will be more cold weather before we can say spring is here. Of course, it won't last as long because the sun is too high now. Around here, when the Wisteria blooms, Spring will have sprung. I am waiting with bated breath and eager anticipation.

Here in Louisville, we have had several nice days...60-low 70`s..Sunny and cloudy with winds. I spent hours cleaning beds. Leaving leaves over all rosesand hydrangeas. I know I am early, but time gets out of hand and some chores must be done when possible. I know we will have freezes and possibly snow but I can`t get everything done if I wait. Spring fever and sore legs are here! I find it amazing that I work out hard in the gym and am so sore after a day of cleaning beds! Getting old is for the birds! Happy gardening everyone! Lesley

Lesley, I commend your hard garden work! I'm not brave enough yet to do as much. Odd that those certain gardening muscles always get us. I completely agree, get what you can do now done. Leaves, always a burden.

Yesterday we saw sunshine after many rainy and cloudy days. Frost in the morning(light). This time of year my garden is almost entirely yellow and blue with daffodils, veronica, ceanothus, and rosemary blooming. The roses are leafing out. Climbing PomPon de Paris has buds and wants to bloom.

Yay, yay, yay! Finally, I get to work in my yard. I know they say CA is still in a drought, but I am sick of rain. It's finally a beautiful sunny day. Not particularly warm but sunny and DRY!!! The iris leaves are coming up, the naturalized daffies are blooming, everything's looking greener. I'm loving it!

It's great weather but I'm afraid. My plants are all leafing out and it's so early. I don't know whether to go ahead and prune since they're leafing out or wait.
This very warm weather is only going to last a few more days here, then highs in the 50's again. I'm grateful that the recent hard freeze didn't ruin the daffodill blooms.

This time of year the weather out here is rarely the same two days in a row. It was warm this past Friday and Saturday, but the temperature roller coaster in now on the downhill plunge again. We have had a winter where we repeatedly got temperature swings of as much as 70 degrees in a week's time. It is up and down like a deranged elevator or a bad roller coaster. We have not had much rain either, and I wonder how the lack of rain will translate into winterkill. Additionally, this time of year out here in tornado alley, one does have to pay attention to the passing clouds.

    Bustopher, tornado alley sounds bad.
We've had this nice weather and now predicted by Friday is ice. The erratic ups and downs makes me want to research weather years ago.
