Gosh, I didn't know there were different kinds. I get what the local pond store carries. I must have the shorter kind as it blooms only once or, if a very hot summer, twice.

There's only one kind, but the plant changes significantly if it's in shallow water. The ones in my small shallow pool at the top of the stream get long and tall, where the others remain the short so to float better.

I have the taller and shorter in my pond together. One blooms more robustly than the other. This time I have a photo. The taller also is darker green please ignore the water lettuce .

Mine are brownish & yellowish...don't know why. No blooms either. :(

brownish and yellowish--makes me think fish are eating the roots.

I've heard that WH gets tall and blooms better in still water where it can root to the bottom. If they're floating around, they tend to stay smaller. We cleaned a pond in Hilo that had tons of muck; the WH were 18 to 25" tall. I brought some home, and their pups are small in my pond.
