OOH! That looks cold but beautiful. My pond is still warm, but had a few frost that killed back all the green plants so landscaping is ugly. I cut everything back. The umbrella palms have come back and are green. I did a partial water change, washed filters and put on a new net today and really worked up a sweat. I also put up my Christmas Tree with the air conditioner blasting away. But that is just one of the disadvantages of living in Fl. Anyway the fish love it and I love to watch them. Glenda

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Cold blooded animals are something else. Its pretty amazing really. We mammals would be dead if our body temperature was 40.

yes they are something , but I believe that my fish would love it if it was 40 degrees. I think it is about 20 out right now :)

You could maybe add a small structure of 2x4's (peaked so the snow slides off) and cover that with a solar cover or clear plastic sheeting. That will probably keep your water quite a bit warmer.

Beautiful picture, at any rate!

don't feel bad for them. goldfish and koi usually won't breed unless they have a good cold spell below 60f water temp. at least that helps me sleep at night when there is ice on my pond.

this year i erected a tent over my pond (to protect the concrete fountain). the tarp keeps the pond about 20 warmer. it is very cold, but no ice and we have been in the teens for the past week. hope the fish appreciate it, cause it looks silly.

Sheesh, we finally made it back UP into the teens yesterday after a week of single digits in the day and -10 to -19F at night. I love Minnesota, at least there's no mosquitoes......ah, what else?

Oh, and your pond is much prettier than mine even snow covered! I love how clear the water is in the winter :)

Only 10 more days 'til the days start to get longer!
