The previous post sounds a lot like advertising. I wish people could find out about the greenhouses that I manufacture and sell. If you could compare my hoop houses with Harbor freights, especially the prices, I would never have to advertise again. Perhaps some of my customers could sing my greenhouses praises as well as some of harbor freights customers. Seems like a double standard. I'm tired of hearing about harbor freight on a no advertising website. Sorry I just had to finally say something. Happy planting all. Steve

"The previous post sounds a lot like advertising."
I don't agree; it would only be advertising if the original poster was employed by, or owned, Harbor Freight. Folks are allowed to post comments here about any greenhouses on the market (including yours.)

Sounds like you have a good product, and based on the number of folks who buy Harbor Freights, it seems like you should be able to find a market. I wish folks could find out more about good alternatives also. Do you have a website promoting your products? I understand we aren't allowed self-promotion here, but I have several websites myself, and I think your sales goals would be more easily recognized by focusing on your internet presence elsewhere. Expressing your frustrations about competition for your products here isn't going to help you sell a greenhouse (but I suspect you already know that.)

In my opinion, your best bet is to maintain a website, focus on good search engine optimization techniques, and use the search engines to help folks find out about your greenhouses. That's worked well for my husband and me with our products.

Folks post frequently here with requests for Harbor Freight coupons, so I believe the original poster was just trying to offer the community a service out of kindness. I understand your frustration about not being able to advertise your products here, and I hope you're able to find more productive ways to reach your market. I'm convinced it's out there!

Thanks for the reply and suggestions mudhouse. I just needed to vent, I agree with your opinion, it's time to start and maintain a website. I currently use craigslist and the local penny savers in the seattle and portland areas and seem to generate enough business to stay a retired nurseryman, but sure like the idea of advertising on a website that is geared to the other people out there that love the trade / hobby as much as I do.
Thanks again for the input.and happy planting.

You're sure welcome. I hear good things about Craigslist, and plan to try it myself! I'm no internet expert, but if you'll drop me an email (My Page link in my post) I'll be happy to send some info about sites that can help you get a small website up for little cost. Happy planting to you too!

Are you using your greenhouse as your personal growing space? What would be wrong in showing us your garden? That would not be advertising. If someone had a question about what you were growing in they could sure ask, and you could answer privately. Does anyone see a problem with that?

    I think that's a good suggestion! :-)

thanks for the suggestion sooner, As soon as I figure out how to post a pic here I will uplosd a few. Do you have to have a photo source in order to upload one to gardenweb? I use photobucket dot com. I'm sure mudhouse could school me on how to display a pic if they wouldn't mind. Thanks

Grower54, wow, it's obvious you know how to grow things! The pics are very helpful, and the greenhouses look great. I also found I could click on any of the photos above and it took me to your photo album to see more pics, and read some captions.

Generally it's best to try to reduce the size of pics a bit before uploading here, perhaps aiming for something about 500 pixels wide. Or, you can also choose the Photobucket code that uploads your pic as a clickable thumbnail, instead of a full size photo. Large photos will often load too slowly for folks on dial-up. That way folks can choose to click to see the enlarged photo, or not, if they have a slower connection.

I'm not sure why all your pics uploaded in a horizontal row touching each other, but that causes the thread to be stretched out too wide (so folks have to scroll back and forth to read posts.)
A while back I bookmarked this thread from another GardenWeb forum, because they were discussing how to upload thumbnails from Photobucket. Also, if you read down, they discuss how to alter the photobucket code so you can have spaces in between the photos, too.

And another post I found helpful:
How Do I Add a Photo Within a Message Box

Honestly I always have to think hard about how to post photos here...especially if it's been a while since I've posted any. You may have to play around with Preview Message to see if you've gotten your pics to appear as you'd like, before clicking submit (at least, that's what I always have to do, after I let myself get rusty at remembering how this goes!)

When you get happy with uploading your pics, I'd personally suggest starting a new thread, since lots of folks may not find you here (unless they're looking for a HF coupon deal.)

    Thanks for posting!
